Bishop Alan

Bishop Alan Hopes is an auxiliary bishop for Westminster Diocese, an appointment he has held since 2003. He was ordained in the Church of England, but converted to Catholicism in 1994. He visited Sacred Heart parish in December 2012 and we managed to take some pretty memorable pics of the day, below.

Pope Francis has recently appointed Bishop Alan Hopes to become the fourth Bishop of East Anglia.

Learning of the appointment, Bishop Hopes said: “It is with a profound sense of trust in God’s loving care for us, that I will undertake this new ministry as Bishop of East Anglia, entrusted to me by our Holy Father, Pope Francis….

…I look forward to working closely with our many ecumenical partners in seeking to respond to the call of our Lord Jesus Christ to love God and serve our neighbours.  I also hope to engage with the members of the other faith communities and all people of good will.  As I take up this new apostolate, I ask for your prayers and support.”

We wish him well in his new role and will miss him in Teddington.
